Poll: The Baby Question

Tomorrow I was set to host a baby shower for some ladies in my Bible study. There are four — yes four — pregnant women in the group. Or should I now say three, since one went into early labor and had baby Joshua yesterday. So we’re postponing the celebration.

Being newly married, it seems like the next question everyone asks is: “When are you going to have kids?” By this time, I’m used to it. Once you meet a special someone, people start asking when you’re going to get engaged. Then right after you get engaged, they want tons of wedding details. I’m also one to ask these types of questions, too, so I figure I should be able to answer.

Some newlyweds I know can’t stand being asked about starting a family. It’s like they hardly have enough time to enjoy being married. So, what do you think?

Does it (or did it) bother you when people ask when you are going to have babies?

Poll: Wedding Shower Invitations

You know by now how much I love showers. There is just something fun about bringing someone a gift to celebrate this new phase in their life.  This also means I help plan a lot of showers.  I was in a friend’s wedding in January and I helped her sister (the Maid of Honor) host the shower.  We asked her for a guest list, so that we could start planning.  And she gave us a list with phone numbers.  What do I do with phone numbers?  I am not planning on calling all of these people that I do not know (okay there are probably 5 that I don’t know) and asking them to come over to our little party.

But this leads to the next question.  Do we take the easy way out and send an evite?  This seems to impersonal to me and so many people forget to respond.  So then we send out paper invitations, like normal people, right?  This can be costly.  My etiquette knowledge is just screaming in my ear that an evite will not suffice and we must send out paper invitations.  It’s not some little birthday party or barbecue … it’s a bridal shower!  And it needs to be treated with much more respect. What do you think?

Is it appropriate to send an email invite for a wedding or baby shower?

And in case you were wondering, we decided to go with paper invitations.  We used an evite for her bachelorette party, but decided to go the more formal route for her bridal shower.

How much water do you drink per day?

Did you know that you are supposed to drink at least 8 cups (that’s 64 ounces) of water a day?  And certain other drinks count towards water consumption, like tea and juices (natural juices, not sugared up concentrates).  I like to bring my water bottle in to the office; it reminds me to be drinking more water and less coffee!

However, the amount of water that I drink varies with my motivation!  Currently I am drinking about 75 ounces or about 9 cups of water a day.  It’s partially because  I took this test.  It let me know that I need to be drinking around 72 ounces of water per day.  What are your results?  Will it change how much you drink?

Poll: Do you have pets?

While Matt and I don’t have a little furball to call our own, we do have a couple of cute canines that we love a bunch. We would like to wait until we have our own spacious yard before we add a dog to our crew. Until that time, these little guys take up some prime real estate in our hearts.

First off, we have Kody. He’s an Australian Shepherd who loves to jump and snatch flying Frisbees and chase squirrels. He is a sweet guy who loves to obey. We’re guessing Kody is about 3 in people years, as Matt’s parents rescued him right before he was going to be put down. I love the picture on the right, makes Matt and I crack up every time we see it.

Next we have Bandit. Also known as Bandito Dorrito Burrito, or Wet Bandit. You can guess how he earned that last nickname. :)   This American Staffordshire Terrier mix puppy belongs to my brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Sarah. We visited them last month and this little guys loves to snuggle, snore and pretend he’s a purse dog. I really miss him and hope to see him again soon! Also, I should mention that the photo on the left is not photoshopped, crazy, huh?

Megan also has some cats — Halvsies and Michael — that I haven’t met yet. Aren’t they cuties?! These pictures are too funny.

Do you have any pets?
