I’m curious to know — how do you make home decor decisions as a couple? Does your guy not care and give you free reign? Is he more of the decorator instead of you?

Much of my day involves looking at inspirational images of beautifully decorated homes. Can you say Pinterest addiction? Matt, on the other hand, doesn’t really find that much joy in this inspiration hunt. That’s not to say he’s not interested in how our home is furnished. He always has an opinion, just as he did in planning our wedding. Sometimes this bugs me because I just want what I want. Yet, it wouldn’t be our home if it was full of stuff that just represented my likes.
How do you handle it?

I find my husband is funny about this subject. He says he doesn’t care and I can have free reign but when I tell him of my plans he suddenly has a very strong opinion. The best part? When I just go and do, he usually loves it. Husbands are funny like that.
My husband is the same as Wendy’s above.
and I just completed my first project in our new house in the girls’ playroom. I think he will like how much it costs rather then the project itself. Live the look of your living room, Emily!
I basically present ideas to William and he “shoots down the poop” {the stuff that he’s not too keen on}. And then when I finally have something that gets him excited too, we go ahead!
I’m usually the designer and he executes most of the handy work. We made a great team that way!
He’s quite opinionated and pinterest has become really helpful, not only because it presents my ideas in beautiful picture format, but also helps me ‘show’ him since I’m not always a great advertiser for these ideas.
