Mood Board: Beachy Living Room Inspired by San Diego

Sometimes, inspiration hits you in odd places. This time, it struck me at the tide pools in San Diego. I loved the colors and textures of the rocks. I was determined to challenge myself to come up with a mood board inspired by this photo. I took note of the straight lines and neutral colors, with pops of maroon and mossy green.

Since you’re traveling, you’ll probably be spending more money than you expected. So, I thought I would try my best to keep the living room pieces affordable as well as accessible. Just pretend that floor pillow/pouf is the red one in the back. Or maybe a red damask. :) (Speaking of poufs, I really want to make a knitted pouf, even though they’re probably not as chic as they were when they first came out.)

Have your travels ever impacted your home decor?

Love your eye for color, detail, lines. Amazing! And, yes, our travels have impacted our home decor. Totally Hawaiian retreat in the master bedroom. But I couldn’t put it together the way you do!

Thanks Claire! You put together your home so nicely. I love the Hawaiian elements, but also your craftsman details too.

You are both so full of compliments! I feel like the only “put together” room in our house is the guest bathroom! Our room is close, but the furniture needs replacing for it to be complete! Mom and Em, you both do have a wonderful eye for design!
