This resolution is one of my favorites. It is a little about being counter cultural, but mostly it is about being feminine!
I will champion God’s model for womanhood in the face of a post feminist culture. I will teach it to my daughters and encourage its support by my sons.
So many of the things that the Bible teaches about women are rejected by the world. And some amazing and powerful women from the Bible are totally ignored (did you know that one women killed an evil leader by sticking a stake though his forehead?). God has called us to be uniquely feminine — that does not mean we are any less of a person than guys. When we had a feminist revolution in America, women wanted to be exactly equal, and I do not believe we were made that way (I realize that I might get shot for saying this, but it is how I feel). We were created for different and distinct reasons, not less or more than our male counterparts (p.38).
Women have a range of emotions that we can use to benefit our marriages and others. We might understand things in a way that our husbands literally cannot and find a way to explain it to them. As women, we also compliment each other. How often are you leaving positive comments on your friend’s instagram outfit pics? Often? I bet your husband would never say that to his friend. That’s just not something guys do. How can we use that to our benefit? We can encourage and uplift one another, not tear each other down. How can we fulfill our role as women? What do you think makes you uniquely feminine?
In this post I reference the book The Resolution for Women by Priscilla Shirer. Another great resource about biblical femininity is Authentic Beauty by Leslie Ludy.
