It is about time I popped in on Organization Week over here. My dear husband has been wanting to reorganize the garage for quite some time. When we bought the house, we inherited the random shelving units and cabinets in the garage. They were practical as they held stuff, but they looked very messy. Also, the shelves were pretty narrow, so we could not fit large bins on there. Matt decided to make a custom shelving unit for specific sized bins. This way we can have uniformity in our garage — and see what is being stored. Now, I forgot to get a before picture, but if you look to the right of the first photo, you can see a bit of what the chaos was before.

I love that each shelf fits 2 bins perfectly. And you can see the labels inside each one. We still need to go though the stuff that is stacked in the middle of the garage and organize into bins... but it is a start! I got a few bins with red lids specifically for Christmas stuff!
Matt made these shelves to fit his exact needs — he wanted space for buckets below! I can’t wait to see what it looks like once everything is put away perfectly in its own box. What do you think? Do you need to organize your garage?

Growing up, our basement had 2/3 of the east wall in shelves that I am sure Dad had built way before I was a glimmer in his eye. It was so awesome to be able to go down and find everything in it’s place.
The other 1/3 of the wall was his “shop” area . . again, everything in it’s place.
Every time I look at my garage and basement I wish I had inherited his organization gene. I think his way, but never get it accomplished :0{
Your shelves and boxes look great . . . nmy idea of a shelving unit. Might have to show it to the husband and see if I can convince him to do it in our basement.
I am good at organizing when I want to be! haha Usually I am done organizing by the time to work bell ends! hahah
Good luck to organizing your garage!!
