4. Recruit your team
Wedding planning is a very busy and stressful time and a support system can be a great asset. Identify which friends and family members that you need to help you on your journey. Often times these are bridesmaids and groomsmen. They will help you sort out your thoughts, listen to your ideas and help out with projects. These ‘team’ members will be a huge help to you so don’t forget to say thank you and recognize them for their love and support.

Here is our candy buffet. The treat bags were ordered from Oriental Trading Co. and they were tied with ribbon we purchased on sale at Michaels. The jars were all purchased from TJ Maxx or donated by family. The baskets were part of décor already in my house and the signs were DIY. Lastly the majority of the candy was bought in bulk from WinCo, Oriental Trading Co. or a bulk candy website.
5. Get creative
I am by no means a domestic diva. With that said there were quite a few projects that I took on with the help of friends and family that helped me keep costs down for my wedding. Don’t be afraid to shop at sales, thrift stores and bargain stores. We got the ties for our groomsmen at Burlington Coat Factory, the candy for our candy buffet in bulk at WinCo, and the sashes for the bridesmaids dresses were made by my mother. Another great resource was etsy.com where I could discuss directly with sellers about price and availability. You can also ask friends and family for any items they have that they will let you borrow. From antique vases to pictures of family, you never know what treasures you’ll find.

In lieu of table numbers I created a destination for each table complete with photographs and a brief description of the importance of that location. Here you’ll see Medford which refers to the town Mike grew up in, Medford, Oregon.
6. Keep your eye on the prize
It is really easy to get lost in the weeds of wedding planning and completely lose sight of why you are spending all this time, energy and money on one event. From time to time it is necessary to remember why you are doing all of this work. At the end of the day your wedding will be about you both as a couple and your journey into married life.
Megan thank you so much for allowing me to guest post and share my experiences with your readers! If they have any questions, I would be happy to answer them.
