Happy Easter! Yesterday was a wonderful day spent with my family, well half of my family and Matt’s family. I am still adjusting to this whole “living on the other side of the state not being able to spend time with both families for one holiday” thing. We usually spend Easter down here (Southern California) because it is just easier than making the drive up for a weekend. We split Thanksgiving and Christmas — one up north and one down here. Although this year we have something fun in store for Thanksgiving (think fun, sun, lanais and leis). Back to what I was saying, Easter is now over. I thought you all might like to see part of our Easter celebration.
First off, I decorated the house. Those eggs are real, from Austria. My mom and I got them together, when she and my dad visited me in Salzburg. The tablecloth thing has an official name — which I cannot remember — and was also purchased on the streets of Salzy. The lamb was a gift from my Mom (because Jesus’ resurrection is the reason for Easter, and He is the Lamb of God). And the rest, well it’s just stuff I found at Michael’s or Joann’s. Except the roses — Matthew grew those for me and picked them and put them in that vase.
As for food, I made this blueberry french toast dish and blueberry coffee cake for church. We go to a home church, so we always have a meal together on Sunday. It’s awesome. Usually it is dinner (church is at 4 p.m. and we each make the main dish once every couple of months, and then bring sides on our “off” weeks), but we had a morning service for Easter Sunday. Terry made an awesome carrot cake, but I forgot to take pictures.
The recipes are what I call “Jan Nymeyers,” named after a friend from church. But I actually got the recipes from her daughter, Krista. So they may just be Krista’s recipes. I will post them later!
That’s the hubs and I. And the other is a goofy picture of my cousin, me and my sister (in law). One of them has a good one, I just have the goofy one!

Cute decorating! I love it!
I’m glad you had a nice Easter-my family and I did too.
Since you live in SoCal, did you feel the earthquake? I’m from San Diego and we were rocking and rolling in the middle of our family picnic!
We did feel the quake. We were visiting relative in the Laguna area and felt it for about 30 seconds. Thankfully there was no damage!
Do you have a blog too?
No, I’m just a newly (almost 3 years) married girl in San Diego. A friend referred me to your blog and I love it!
Well Sarah it is nice to meet you! I’m glad you are loving the blog! And my bro lives in San Diego – we love visiting him!
