Sprucing Up with What You’ve Got

Are you all ready for a before and after…ish? I say “ish” because I don’t think it’s really a completed project in the “after.” Here’s the deal: we have a catch-all second bedroom. It houses a twin bed, our desk and desktop computer, and my couch that folds into a bed. Oh, and it holds everything that we don’t want to deal with.

I’m doing my best to to spruce up the house. To be honest, I’m not feeling as connected to our house now that I have the next house on the brain. Then I got tired of walking by this room and going “ick.” So I used what I had to make the room look better and to be semi-functional (we seriously are never in this room). Here’s what the room looked like before:

I cleaned, grabbed some extra tables around the house and did my best five-minute styling job. Now it’s a cute little lounge to hang out in … or just to walk by and say “aw, there’s a room in there, not just junk!”

I think the beautiful natural light helps make any room better, too. And the disco ball doesn’t hurt, either. Now to extend the sprucing to the rest of the house.

Do you have a space in your home that needs to be given new life?

  1. Shift, I LOVE it. The TV tables pushed together to make a coffee table is absolutely brillz.

  2. Looks great! It’s amazing that a little bit of work can bring a lot of pizzazz to a room. Of course it helps that you already own some cool pieces that lend themselves to a put-together look for your room. I like the natural light, and the plant and books on the table(s). It makes for a calm, uncluttered look that must make you feel good every time you walk past. For a room seldom used, you may find yourself stopping in on occasion just to enjoy it.
