This week’s recipe is one of Matthew’s family favorites. They served it at all of their graduation parties and I made it for his sister’s welcome home party last weekend. This was my first time making it, and it was just as easy as it sounds. I used red cabbage instead of green, because I thought it would give it a bright and cheery look. It did.
Sumi Salad
Dressing:
- ¼ cup Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- ¾ cup Oil (not Olive, I would try Grapeseed)
- 6 tablespoons Rice Vinegar
Salad Ingredients:
- ¼ cup sliced or slivered Almonds
- ¼ cup Sesame Seeds
- 8 Green Onions, finely chopped
- 2 3oz package Ramen Noodles, crunched up a bit (uncooked, do not use flavor packet that comes with the noodles)
- 1 head Red Cabbage finely chopped or shredded
Combine the dressing ingredients in a large bowl (I used a four quart Pyrex) and whisk together. Add the salad ingredients and mix well. Chill and then mix again before serving.
This is super simple, but very tasty. I heard that it is hard to find cabbage recipes, so I am glad to have this one. Will you try to make it?

We used to make something similar before Jonathan switched to GF – SO yummy!
