I’ve got the fever — stencil fever. I’ve been wanting to do a pattern on two walls in our bedroom, but couldn’t convince Matt how awesome it would turn out. First, I thought about painting stripes or a diamond pattern, but wasn’t convinced. It would have to be subtle.
Stenciling walls has been all the rage lately, at least in the design blogosphere, as it has the look of wallpaper but without the commitment. It’s still a laborious task, but I am up to it.
Here is a little collection of my stencil inspiration. Here’s one from k.f.d. designs that had me wanting to something slightly metallic and glossy.

Of course, there’s the always creative and talented Kate from Centsational Girl who did something similar on the wall behind her master bedroom.
I like the pattern Jesse of Good Girl Gone Glad, as seen below.

Jesse had gotten the pattern as a free download from Jones Design Company, so I clicked on over and just adored her stenciled room.
I like how Emily — nice name by the way — did the double lined pattern. Hop on over to her site and download the free pattern, like I did.
The latter pattern is my first choice, but Matt likes the first. Not sure when I’m going to get a chance to do some stenclin’, but I’m looking forward to it!
What do you think of the stencils? Have you attempted something like this?

Very cool. But the second one looks too much like chain link for my taste! I stenciled a craftsman design in our dining room, up at the top of the wall, all the way around the room. My lovely daughter did some stenciling of a cherry pattern in the kitchen. I enjoy both of them – and am glad I/we did them!
I love them all! If we owned our own place I would totally try one of these out. If you need a buddy to get going I have a very steady hand.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Ooh thanks foe the offer. I’ll let you know!
I totally have that same stencil post from Jones in my bookmark folder!!!!!!!! Great minds think alike!
I love it so much but don’t think I could actually commit to a project that intense. Plus I’m horrible at ‘winging it’ with straight lines like she did. Excited to see what you end up doing!
What an awesome idea! Is it bad that I sort of want to see you tackle the project before I do? I like that you always post any problems you encounter in your projects so I know what to watch out for.
p.s. just tell Matt you’re stenciling frisbee outlines everywhere.
