After reflecting on my goals for last year, I spent most of the weekend thinking about resolutions for 2011. The thing is, I’m not really a resolutions person. Goals without deadlines is tough, so I figured I’d take a cue from Melissa at Trying to Heal and state what I would want out of 2011. Sure, these are still goals/resolutions, but I’m trying to take it easy on any guilt trips this time next year!

Resolutions make me crazy!
Seriously though, this is a pic from the weekend at my friend's wedding, which I hope to share later. Anyone else loving the Instagram app for iPhone?
Ideally, I would want to make smarter food decisions; keep a clean, orderly and beautiful home; save even more for our next house; and find ways to have fun and be active. It would be great if we could go on one non-ultimate-frisbee-related vacation, but that would take away from saving more on a house.
As I made these goals, I realized that it is impossible to make them for myself, as they impact my husband as well. If these were to be accomplished, he would have to be on board as well – there’s no way I’m going to be the only one sacrificing spending, making two dinners every night or cleaning the house by myself. Plus, I’d like it if he would be involved in the fun and active part, too.
To be honest, it was a little tough to convince Matt that he needed to adopt what were essentially my goals as his, too, especially since he’s not the “resolutions type” either. In the end, we both figured that we were married to make each other better and in so doing that, we’d keep these goals in mind as we made decisions together and individually.
The plan is to write about these topics on the blog as a way to keep us on track. I’ve already been making plans to do a post on making simple substitutes to improve eating. Plus, Matt and I have started making a list of more home projects to tackle. So hopefully it will be a good year for us and for NewlyWife readers, too!
What are your resolutions or goals for the year? Any advice for me as I take on these goals?

Yay for the things you want to do this year! i think it’s so much easier for us to put our minds toward something we want to do instead of what we think we have to do…ya know?!?!
